Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) is a private university focused primarily on technical arts and applied sciences. The course schedule for undergraduate students is unlike most other universities. WPI has seven-week terms, each of which are equivalent to a third of a year at another university. This allows students to complete a year’s worth of courses in only a semester and a half. This accelerated pace allows for more study.
Students also have an opportunity to work alongside faculty in biotech, fuel cell, information security, and nanotechnology research. Additionally, students are encouraged to participate in worldwide organizations through the university’s Global Perspective Program. WPI has project centers across the globe.
There are many student activities, including Greek Week, Saturday Night Gaming, weekend movies, and more. WPI teams also participate in NCAA Division III sports, including men’s baseball, basketball, crew, football, soccer, swimming & diving, track & field and wrestling and women's basketball, crew, field hockey, soccer, softball, swimming & diving, track & field, and volleyball.
