CollegeWeekLive Sets Virtual Event Record

Over 15,000 Participants Worldwide Tune In to Inaugural Event

BOSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--CollegeWeekLive (www.collegeweeklive.com) - the first of its kind virtual college fair -- hosted a record-setting 15,000 attendees during its inaugural event November 13th and 14th. For the first time ever, students, parents and guidance counselors from across North America, Europe, Asia, Africa and South America used the latest Internet technologies - including live video chat, live webcasts, and virtual environments - to connect with one another - as well as with admissions officers and leading college experts.

CollegeWeekLive by the numbers:

  • 15,000 event registrations

  • 130 schools from across North America participating

  • 20,000 live interactions

  • 5,500 participants in live video broadcasts

  • 4 studios featuring live web keynote sessions from - New York, Washington D.C., Boston and San Francisco

The event was a welcome change for tech-savvy high school students, who are used to communicating only online via text, video and voice. Through virtual booths students visited and interacted with over 130 colleges and universities they may have not otherwise considered, without the hassle or financial burden of physically visiting each campus. The event allowed students to virtually experience not only campus life and connect with admissions experts who provided sessions on various topics including college admissions essays, financial aid processes and how to win scholarships.

Students, parents and guidance counselors alike expressed excitement for the unprecedented event:

"Thank you for this amazing experience..and to anyone who helped make this possible!"

- Parent of High School Senior at Loyola High School

"I was reluctant to publicize the fair with my students because I was so unfamiliar with it. [after spending some time in the fair] I am very impressed and will make sure all of my students know about the next fair in March. Thanks and congrats to all of you for putting together such a great program for students."

- Guidance Counselor, St. Edwards High School

"I went to a [physical] college fair last weekend, but this is much more convenient. Thanks a lot for your help!"

- Student, Arlington High School

"This event is a lot easier than trying to find all this information on my own, plus there is no way that I could talk to admissions counselors and have access to all the other features."

- Massachusetts High School Student

In turn, participating colleges and universities also reaped rewards, including the opportunity to:

  • Communicate directly with students and parents - during and after show

  • Interact with students without incurring travel costs or time out of the office

  • Easily distribute documents and marketing materials to interested students

  • Target prospective students during/after show

  • Reach a more diverse and broader student audience

"This was extremely successful event from all perspectives," said Robert Rosenbloom, President of PlatformQ, the producer of CollegeWeekLive. "Students were able to learn about potential schools, gain expert advice about financial aid and the admissions process, and interact directly with current college students."
