3 Questions with Daphne Oz, Author of The Dorm Room Diet

On August 5th at 8 PM Eastern, see Daphne Oz present live on her best selling book The Dorm Room Diet - The 10-Step Program for Creating a Healthy Lifestyle Plan that Really Works. CollegeWeekLive sat down with Daphne to discuss great tips for a healthy diet and lifestyle in college.

CollegeWeekLive: What is one “must have” food for anyone looking to stay healthy in college?

Daphne Oz: For me, that would be soy crisps. I'm a big savory snacker, and these are a great substitute for potato chips that pack a powerful protein punch while skipping on the fat and tons of sodium.

CollegeWeekLive: What is the biggest diet pitfall(s) for college students?

Daphne Oz: Late night snacking! This is so easy to do, whether you're up late studying or hitting a campus party. You have to be aware that you probably don't need the extra calories if you'll be heading to bed within three hours, and you'll be forcing your body to stay partially awake (so you can digest the food) while you sleep.

CollegeWeekLive: How does a healthy diet affect a student’s overall college experience?

Daphne Oz: The brain needs nutrients to function optimally. Making sure that you fuel your body with food that will optimally supply your body with nutrients and at the same time keep you satiated so that you can keep your concentration in class and beyond is the best way to set yourself up for success in college.
